Glad to see you made it to Quito, although a bit worse for the wear. Nostalgia grips me as I read the description of all these place you describe. Let me know how you like it if you try the Goat stew I suggested last week. If you'd rather have some vegetarian food try the juice vendors in Mercado Santa Clara - I never miss it whenever I'm visiting Quito (it is not very far from where you are located). If you are feeling adventitious you'll ask for any one of the several fruit juice varieties with sea weed and a raw egg added. A huge glass (and a bit more) will set you back about a dollar. There are other food vendors there too, serving excellent local fare and produce.

Wikipedia says the Earth's diameter through the Equatorial plane is 42 kilometers greater than the diameter measured pole to pole--a substantial difference.

You keep talking about how high things are "from the center of the Earth." How big is this effect, due presumably to centrifugal force?

I am an avid hiker and recently I have been suffering from Achilles tendonitis. RICE and Alleve. Especially Alleve. For me, it was improper heel and arch support in my shoes. I have had to crawl off the trail recently. Look for liquid gel arch supports. Are such things available in Quito? Exercise only aggrevates the problem. Take care!

You and I have different definitions of "pull up bars" or do we?

I am too old for adventures. Quito sounds like my kind of place.

It is good to see that you found somes bars. :)
