Friday, February 13: Reading: Toronto at Dreamer’s Rock

Contemporary storyteller and playwright Drew Hayden Taylor will read from his play, Toronto at Dreamer’s Rock, which tells the tale of a young Native American boy who finds it difficult to reconcile ancestral traditions with modern living. Free. National Museum of the American Indian, 12 PM.

Saturday, February 14: The Power of Chocolate 2-Day Family Festival

It’s two days of chocolate. Do I seriously need to say more? Enjoy performances and demonstrations from people who come from all over the chocolate culture spectrum, from musicians, to artists to the scientists who are (finally!) hailing chocolate’s health benefits. And yes, there will be food. Free. National Museum of the American Indian, 10:30-4:30. Repeats February 15.

Sunday, February 15: Over There

Payman has only ten days left to renew his green card and must travel from Iran to the US; however, he is unable to do so until he reaches a divorce settlement with his wife. In Persian with English subtitles. Free. Freer Gallery of Art, 2 PM.

Monday, February 16: One Life: The Mask of Lincoln

Come and listen to Lincoln experts discuss the life and times on one of the most celebrated figures in American history. Distinguished speakers include David C. Ward from the National Portrait Gallery, Alexander Nemerov from Yale University, Michael E. McGerr from Indiana Universtiy, and Marcia Brennan from Rice University. Free. National Portrait Gallery, 9 AM-12 Noon.
