The Museum of the American Indian highlighted last year a lecture by Buffy Sainte-Marie, and I was mesmerized. As a college student in the '60's I remember her coming on the scene, and yet, here, in her humble, intimate way, she connected with the audience and we were all amazed that she hadn't aged a day. Her enthusiasm and her talent swept away her audience and we were so proud that she's chosen to help educators with technology and valued learning experiences instead of only focusing on the commercial side of music. What a genuine gift she is to us all.

Buffy has been an inspiring role model for Native musicians for a very long time. Her audiences adore her. Her songwriting skills and that amazing voice of hers have kept her in demand as an artist and activist. She has only gotten better over time. Kudos to the Smithsonian for this interview and for the exhibit highlighting Native musical contributions to popular culture.
