I am one of the billions mourning his death. I started my computer "life" on Steve's IIe and learned how to format AppleWorks spreadsheet for data in my coaching life and then reveled when the spell checker came along. His IIe's were the best computers for running the MECC software that many students learned to play Oregon Trail, Number Munchers and etc. You were a blessing to many! May the angels see you into paradise.

Why is the Smithsonian NOT setting up a special display right now? I know a lot of people who would be interested. I for one has company coming next week, and that would be a perfect day trip for all of us.

Steve Jobs had nothing to do with the Newton. It was one John Scully's mistakes, not Steve's. If you watch the 1997 WWDC video on YouTube (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GnO7D5UaDig) you'll see that Steve thinks the Newton is 'a piece of junk'. Why? He didn't like handwriting as the primary input method and he wanted Internet connectivity. So he pushed for the iPhone. Only took him 10 years!
