Wish they would finally mention the Hairston family in Americas history,,They have the MLB record ,of 4 generations that played baseball.Largest black family Reunion.. Much much more,, Hairston were probably the largest slave holding family in America ,, They had more than 50 plantation ,, Until they tell of their story , their history isn't telling the whole truth,,....And peonage i just watched a film ,,named Slavery by another name.. I had no clue of what was done from 1865 to 1940 and they worked some of these men to death ,and just go arrest another one for a minor offense ,and make them work,,Samuel Jackson narrated it,,it was on PBS...

What does the American History museum represent - is it not American History? The last time I visited this museum, it did include history of Black Americans too. Will you be taking all references to Black Americans out of the American History museums and place those items in the African American History building? Breaking ground for this new museum assumes that the original American History building houses historical items of only a selected race in America and cannot or will not ever fully represent AMERICAN history. In my humble opinion, this only causes divisiveness by differentiating Americans by race.
I hope the Smithsonian will respond so that I may better understand where I may be in error in my statement.
