Hope Fun Fun, Osmo the wizard, Ding Dong Dilly, Wrongbong Blogbegone, Jonathan Scanlon, Foxy Tickleweed, a.k.a. Peter Glantz will be premiering new work at Friday night’s After Hours bash at the Hirshhorn.
Who is Hope Fun Fun, Osmo the wizard, Ding Dong Dilly, Wrongbong Blogbegone, Jonathan Scanlon, Foxy Tickleweed, a.k.a. Peter Glantz, you ask? He’s a rad theater and film director whose worked with everyone from Becky Stark (from the band Lavender Diamond) to Miranda July (writer and director of Me and You and Everyone We Know) to create distinctly fantastical works.
As part of another wild night at the Smithsonian, Glantz will premier his live-show, The World. Comprised of his recent videos, the work follows three friends on an ever-changing journey that depends on the reactions of the live audience. The piece includes cartoons from MTV’s animation showcase series Liquid Television, music videos with Wilco and Andrew C.K. and an interview segment whose guests include John C. Reilly and OK Go’s Damian Kulash. Add it all up and you have a hip, unique experience sure to be unlike any other live-show video performance you’ve seen. Still not sure what all that really means? Here’s a sample of some of his work:
“Sunloathe” by Wilco
John C. Reilly teaches Becky Stark a magic trick
“We Are The Universe” from MTV’s Liquid Television
