"A World of Sound" just got quieter, again. Dave Brubeck, who died Wednesday at age 91, yes was a quintessential artist as well as a jazz man.

Brubeck is one of the most original minds in jazz history. He embodied everything that fans of jazz love about the genre: the fire, the soul, the challenges, the pure spontaneity. He was a risk taker and his Take Five was a break out tune that changed the way we hear jazz. I am saluting his genius by listening to all the great works he left behind. R.I.P.Dave Brubeck BarbJanuszkiewicz Visual Jazz Artist

Dave Brubeck, although he was an American icon, was truly a citizen of the world. His humble childhood imbued in him a deep sense of gratitude, justice, humanity, and humility. All of these personal values fed and inspired his musical gifts. Right up to the end he retained a sharp intellect and wonderful wit. Among the greatest aspects of his legacy, in addition to the music, are the members of his large extended family of children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren and the center of his creative and personal life, the lady he fell in love with the moment he met her in 1942...the lady who inspired "In Her Own Sweet Way"...his loving and gifted wife Iola. Thank you to her and the children for sharing Dave with the world!
