Interesting article, but please, your site is read by many of us around the world using the metric system who have no idea what Fahrenheit and even miles mean. It is no fun to have to reach for a converter while reading your articles. i wish that you will in the future give all measures in the two systems. Thank you for a great site!

I am James Lovelock, scientist and author, known as the originator of Gaia theory, a view of the Earth that sees it as a self-regulating entity that keeps the surface environment always fit for life… I am an environmentalist and founder member of the Greens but I bow my head in shame at the thought that our original good intentions should have been so misunderstood and misapplied. We never intended a fundamentalist Green movement that rejected all energy sources other than renewable, nor did we expect the Greens to cast aside our priceless ecological heritage because of their failure to understand that the needs of the Earth are not separable from human needs.Lovelock, 12 December 2012.

We are causing the same amount of warming in one century than it once took 20,000 years to reach? If this isn't a wake up call, than I don't know what is. Articles like this are tough to read and digest, but as a species we must become informed on the TRUTH of what we are doing to this planet and we must act in ways that not only limit climate change as much as possible, but also slow it down as much as we can. It's a human rights issue. It's time we exercise our rights and force action on climate change NOW. Just as Treebanker mentioned: More extreme weather, rising seas, and escalating risks to our health. That's what we can expect as climate change gets worse. http://clmtr.lt/cb/pOt0tz
