Congratulations to Smithsonian Magazine for recognizing Irving Olson’s miraculous achievement with water droplets. As a fellow resident of Splendido Retirement Home I have enjoyed his writings in our Writer’s Group as well as his historic photography.

The man is like Tom Edison – who said his inventions were something like one percent inspiration and 99 percent perspiration. His work belongs in a gallery and there are photo competitions around the world that would reward his work as well.
I do wonder that, with the speed at which these collisions occur, he hasn’t tried something slowing down the action a bit by using clear or dyed corn syrup?
Regardless it is great seeing someone of his age with still an agile and creative mind. I wish I had him as a neighbor.

We have known Irving for several years and photography is only one of his numerous talents. His deceased wife Ruth was also a very talented photographer among many other talents. It was a learning experience just to know them.

I might this remarkable,witty, funny gentleman on a recent European trip. At thirty years his junior, I consider myself not nearly as spry and certainly not at all as technologically advanced. He is an inspiration!

I can only hope to be able to do half of what Irving is doing at age 98. Simply incredible!
