If anyone is interested in Amazon Kindle books on dinosaurs, I found a great new book called "Dinosaur Books For Kids: The Menacing Meat-Eaters". What makes this book rather special is that it an interactive quiz book all about some of the major meat-eating dinosaurs set in a "game play" format. Using the popular "Who Am I" quiz format, readers get clues to help figure out the dinosaur being discussed and when they guess correctly they see a picture along with some interesting facts. Probably best for kids aged 8-12 years old. If you are interested, I have included the Amazon Kindle book link: http://www.amazon.com/Dinosaur-Books-For-Kids-ebook/dp/B00A6JI4MG/

This website tells about a book where a kid discovers all sorts of dinosaurs. It is The Gatekeeper by Judson Troop.

I agree with Bob. Prehistoric life has enough visuals to make it fun for kids, but also has some informative text. Also, it goes beyond dinosaurs.

I might also suggest "Walking with Dinosaurs: Prehistoric Life" and "Feathered Dragons" (Long & Schouten) for their stunning artwork. The latter in particular has some of the most original and bold depictions of dinosaurs I've ever seen. It will certainly let kids see dinosaurs as birds (or birds as dinosaurs). While not technically "kids' books", the text is basic enough that older kids can probably understand them well enough.

Brian--check out the new Prehistoric Life from DK, one of the best dinosaur books in my (ever-growing) collection. A huge coffee-table book with amazing illustrations, and very well-written, too. (and no, I had nothing to do with it...)

I love that the cover of Holtz and Rey's book looks just like the cover of the first few editions of National Geographic's Field Guide to the Birds of North America:
