Return of the Dinosaucers?
After two decades, the “Dinosaucers” might be coming back. No, I am not talking about a line of collectible plates with dinosaurs emblazoned on them, but a 1987 cartoon that starred dinosaurs from space. Even though scores of episodes were created only the first season was actually aired, but rumor has it that the alien dinosaurs might make a comeback.
Over the past week artist Brett Booth has been sharing some concept art for a potential Dinosaucers project. So far he has given us a sneak peek at Allo the Allosaurus, Tricero the Triceratops, Ghengis Rex the Tyrannosaurus and an as-yet-unnamed Agustinia character, though there is no doubt that these are just a handful of the entire prehistoric cast. They look much better than their 1980s counterparts, though, and Brett has done a great job incorporating new scientific discoveries into the concept art.

LOL! Thanks Brian!
I was hoping to have some news this week, but everyone else is sick:( Personally I was a bit old for the cartoons so I wasn’t familiar with them, but even if we don’t the property we’re going to try to do something with dinosaurs.
But I’ll pass this on to the higher ups so they can see the poll!
Best,
Brett
Great now I also want this and line of collectible plates with dinosaurs emblazon on them. LOL.
Big fan of Brett’s work. He is an artistic Genius.
Why can’t we get a realistic dinosaur cartoon instead of dino-furries?
i was there for the first episode .even i new it was totaly silly and child like but something about it grabbed my iner feelings that pelo scientists will never allow and that is to explore the posible as in ( WHAT-IF ) be it gene splicing or other planets evolution . we need to stop seeing the dieno~saur as just this dumb animal with a pee brain for witch we never found fore all we know was in there spinal nerves .and 2oo million years that calls for a lot of mind evolving and not turning into birds ether. so give this show and its artists a chance to booth have fun and explore the posible of dienos and humans working together. i say make the show. but give us adults something great to think anout on the big screen. and this time make and slae the toy line. becouse you have know idea what i paid for my prodotypes of the dinosaucers dolls .not to mention all those poorly copies of dinosaucers from ebay .please sony release DVDS already.
I never got into Dinosaucers. Maybe I was a bit too old by that point or maybe the plot was just too goofy for me. I do like Brett’s concept art, though. Very eerie and science-fictiony, and yet still clearly rooted in science reality somehow. Much improved over the 80′s versions.
I would rather see a reboot of Dino-Riders, Cadillacs & Dinosaurs (a.k.a. Xenozoic Tales), or Dinosaurs Attack (‘member that trading card / comic book series?) A well-funded and well-made feature length movie based on either of those would be awesome.
I say bring them back but please those designs dont look anything like Allo he looks to nasty and we know hes kind and gentle , it was good as it is now why change it , just update them a little dont completely change the characters
The idea for the Dinosaucers franchise seemed like an interesting idea back in the 80′s, but the finished product was just a lil’ too childish and silly for viewers to take seriously, which is probably why it flopped.
Unless it’s a Jurassic Park movie or The Flintstones, it’s hard to sell TV shows and movies about dinosaurs and prehistoria or period pieces in general to kids (remember the Dino-Riders cartoon that came out around the same time) because shows about lizards (comical talking lizards at that) don’t exactly peak interest.
It seems like the producers wanted to have it both ways by making a serious sci-fi-alien-dinosaur-comes-to-earth program with a humorous twist. But there were too many goofy dinosaur characters (both heroes and villains) and too much preskoolish humor for anyone over 10, at the very oldest, to take seriously. Naturally they can update anything, but I don’t think this particular product was popular enough, nor have a huge enough following to where any studios would want to take a chance with resurrecting it. This wasn’t a He-Man or ThunderCats. Like the real ones they’re based on, these dinos had their day!
They needed to make the heroes Herbivores:
Iguano (an Iguanodon NOT Allosaurus)
Bronto Thunder
Stego
Tricero
Dimetro (an Ouranosaur NOT Dimetrodon)
Teryx
Ichy
Bonehead
TYRANNOS
Gengis Rex
Bary (a Baryonx intead of Quackpot Anatotitan)
Cerato (instead of Styraco)
Carno T (a Carnotaurus instead of Ankylosaurus)
Plesio
Terrible Dactyl
Therez (a Thereznosaurus instead of Brachio thug)
and add in
Quakpot
Ankylo
Styraco
Brachio
and also
Cory a hot crested Corthosaurus
Dilo a baddie crested
Giganato
Spino
Kentra (female Kentrosaur)
Maia (female Maiasaurus)
Lady Dei and Velo (male and female dromiosaurs)
and this way its FUN…BUT I like the designs so keep them that flat and bright…
This is FUN…the ships should be aweosme too.
I agree with jun.
it would be better advanced like this!
Great show, futuristic, and something from my time. Brings back mameories of when I was a teen. I finally managed to purchase Dinosaucers Season 1 from Itunes for my Ipod.
You know.. I would love a Dinosaucers comeback more than anything right now! (Heck, I’m actually building a Secret Scouts bike!) But as much as I would love to see this series return, I really don’t appreciate those designs for Dinosaucers. I mean, don’t get me wrong.. I love dinosaurs, and those drawings are absolutely great, but they don’t look like “characters” as much as they look like soulless beasts. I don’t see any of their personalities at all, and that’s something that was reflected well in the original series–as corny as it was.
I believe it would make the series very interesting to the audiance is that their be mysterious characters that knows about the dinosaucers and the secret scouts secret and while helping them out he tells the world about it later on in the end.
Before that David, Sarah, Ryan and Paul would have the guilt to tell their parents about their secret that they kept from them.
Plus we would love to see Teryx’s character development to stay the same like in the original series.
and would have a super v and understanding for the mysterious character.
