Super-Sized Tyrannosaurus Comes to South Dakota

At about 40 feet long, Tyrannosaurus rex was one of the largest predatory animals that ever lived. But even the skeleton of a fully grown T. rex would be dwarfed by its animatronic likeness now standing outside the Children’s Museum of South Dakota. Measuring 60 feet long from nose to tail, the super-sized Tyrannosaurus is able to blink, move its tail and roar, and given its suburban setting it looks like it came out of the finale of The Lost World. The museum, in Brookings, South Dakota, will open in September.

That’s my baby! What a thrill to see this on my RSS feed when I got back into the office this morning.
We had a fantastic time in Brookings bringing “Mama” to life and the children’s museum is going to be an incredible place for kids of all ages to visit.
Cool! I used to live in Brookings for several years and it’s nice to see the old neighborhood getting a museum and some dino action, especially at a time when the economic climate is forcing other museums and paleo attractions to shut down.
I wonder why they found it necessary to super-size the T. rex, though.
As someone who attended a private opening of this museum with his wife and two children today…I have but one word to say…AMAZING!!!!!! Let’s just say the 4 hours we traveled to be a part of this was just a fraction of what it was worth!!! You won’t want to miss this!!!
