		<description>Descriptive science is often denigrated as non-science, and they&#039;ll take a hard stance saying that because description is not (arguably) based on testable &amp; competing hypotheses, its not science.

Some people have tried to distinguish between Oceanography, considered too descriptive to be science,  from &#039;modern, integrated&#039; Oceanology.</description>
