Dinosaur Sighting: Tyrant King of the Crustaceans

A T-rex in Sri Lanka. Photo courtesy of Maija Karala

Most of our dinosaur sightings come from around the Unites States, but today’s photo features a more distant dinosaur. This snapshot, sent in by reader Maija Karala, stars a Tyrannosaurus outside a restaurant in Negombo, Sri Lanka. “He apparently likes crustaceans,” says Karala, who wonders, “could it be that [the] tyrannosaur diet has been completely misunderstood all along?”

Have you seen a prehistoric creature in an unusual place? Submissions of dinosaurs—and other ancient beasts—should be sent to dinosaursightings@gmail.com.
