Dinosaur Sighting: The Most Dangerous Place for a Wedding

Newlyweds Scott and Amanda Peters inside the mouth of Cabazon Dino Park's Tyrannosaurus. Photo courtesy Scott Peters.

Every now and then, someone comes up with an idea that makes me smack my foreheard and say, “Why didn’t I think of that?” Getting married inside a dinosaur is one of them.

Newlyweds Scott and Amanda Peters selected one of the world’s most recognizable dinosaurs for the site of their wedding: the huge concrete Tyrannosaurus at Cabazon Dino Park in California. Remember the roadside dinosaur that comes to life in Pee Wee’s Big Adventure? That’d be the one. And while getting married anywhere inside the digestive tract of a huge theropod is not typically advisable, in this case it made for some great photos. Congratulations, Scott and Amanda!

Cute couple. Actually, that’s just a ground-level Tyro “head” that is separate from the big concrete Tyro that was in Pee Wee’s Big Adventure, but OK it’s still pretty cute. Good for them. Sorry for being a wet blanket. I’ll go now.

  2. Amanda says:

Thank you for the positive comments. You are correct, there were 2 sets for Pee Wee’s Big Adventure…one walk-up concrete dinosaur (Cabazon Dino) and one interior set shot (ground level Tyro head).
We are actually inside the walk-up dinosaur in Cabazon’s Dino Park. As you can see it is quite small–just enough room for us, our photographer and officiant. (The interior shot for the movie was done on a much larger set and included comfy seats–we were just sittin’ on good ol’ cement!). In fact, the walk-up dino head is so small we had to sit for our ceremony because there wasn’t enough room to stand!
    -Thanks again, Amanda (the bride)

    This couple is awesome!

  4. Mike Huggins says:

Wow, Amanda you two are up there actually “in the air?” Sorry, I didn’t realize you could really do that there. Glad to be wrong, and I agree with Amy!

  5. Troy Britain says:

Very cute! It’s unfortunate that the place is owned by antievolutionists and lousy with their propaganda. See:

Dinny the dinosaur, a fond childhood memory defiled and Dinny the dinosaur (still) held hostage

  6. Uncle Glenn says:

I really like Scott’s tiny little T-Rex arms! Amanda appears to be ready to take flight like a pterydactyl, with a lovely bouquet of flowers in its claws. Very cool!

  7. Bob Holland says:

Who was your photographer or did you use a timer and DYI?

  8. Sally C. says:

Most Awesome Couple! LOVE! :) Congrats!

  9. Amanda says:

Bob…the only “guests” were our photographer and our officiant (both friends). Our photographer is the amazing Scott Perryman. There is no way we could have done it without either of our guests!
