The start of my work day with a morning coffee and Brian's wonderful writing will never be the same. Dinosaur Tracking has been my go-to site for the past 4 years and this amateur appreciates every one of the fascinating pieces of information that I've read over the past years. Good luck and keep writing!

"the discovery of fluff on a much more distantly related theropod–Sciurumimus–hints that feathers were a much older, more widespread dinosaur feature than previously expected."

Not necessarily. To quote Martyniuk ( http://albertonykus.deviantart.com/journal/Otto-312279124 ), “Well, at the very least all of Orionides. But Cau found this as a basal coelurosaur, and his analysis included more coelurosaur species, so I’d tend to put more stock in that one.”

BTW, looking forward to the new Laelaps.
