It would be nice to start these stories with a disclaimer - statistics can prove anything.

A more reliable take on the story would be people who are prone to hallucinate may exhibit increased coffee consumption - and gosh darn it we found some.

What I want to know is - How did the scientists get to the point where they wanted to study this? (As well as score funding!) Twenty bucks says they had their own "hallucinatory experiences" in grad school.

Do they mention how much actual caffeine was consumed? Caffeine levels can vary so much among different drinks, brew strengths, beans, that it's hard to understand what sort a threshold "7 cups of instant coffee" would be (assuming they mean seven 8 oz cups?)
