I just wish we get up to speed with the rest of the world when it comes to getting the right seafood without the mercury issues, overfishing and associated problems.

One would think things that come from the sea would have less pollutants/chances of passing on pathogens but thanks to us, we have made the playing field very level.

Great blog on sustainable seafood. We are just so far behind the Europeans in appreciating sustainability and showing it with our pocketbooks. Plus, they are so many issues regarding farmed fish that go from shipping/packaging to all the feed. I applaud the effort to help increase awareness of this issue.

Amanda, as a seafood fiend, I can say your post made my mouth water and it's only 8am here :) Not much in the way of seafood in Texas but there are some good (read: expensive) places to get great sea bass and salmon. I've stayed clear of blue-fin tuna for the exact reason you outlined.
