Good news! After tackling this mess will the FDA start dealing with the wild medical claims made by producers of "dietary supplements?

Erica, great post. This is beyond just labeling (we're big honest-labeling advocates) and it will be interesting to see where it goes. Our official statement, "POM supports its scientific research and advocates honest labeling. We look forward to working with the FDA to resolve this matter. http://www.bit.ly/pomfda" Best wishes, POM Blogger

In a way I feel sorry for the companies; I mean, if your great-grandmother could deduce that we need to be a little analytical, we all should be able to read a label or two!

When I was out this weekend, my friend and I noticed a pomegranate martini on a menu that said it would do thinks like prevent breast cancer. We had a good laugh over that. It was a tasty drink, but in no way does a martini qualify as health food.
