I bought Born Round on my Kindle a year ago and have yet to read it. Thanks for the reminder.

I have one to add to the list: The Sharper Your Knife, the Less You Cry by Kathleen Finn. It's another culinary school book, but it's set in Paris - a great read for anyone who has the cooking and travel bug!
