Both are delicious in their own ways! Many recipes of the same name have regional variations, why not just enjoy! Anyway, I might as well include my post from my sadly neglected blog on this very subject: http://cookingdrinkingswearing.blogspot.com/2010/03/belated-irish-soda-bread.html As someone who grew up eating Irish-American soda bread and, later, lived in Ireland and enjoyed “traditional” Irish soda bread, I have to say that all the contention over which is “correct” is pretty silly.
