I was flattered to read Tinky's exact recall of the Tab jingle I wrote in l964.

I was awarded a Clio for writing that commercial. It was the first campaign for Tab

and it gave Coca Cola's new diet soft drink a reason for being other than weight

loss or health using "Taste". And when Coca Cola went to Diet Coke that was kept up

with the campaign "Just for the Taste of It!" My Clio comm'l was "Candlelight" (1965).

How can just one calorie taste so good?
How can just one calorie taste so good?
Because the Coca-Cola Company kept the flavor in tab!

I was singing this jingle just yesterday.

Alas, I don't like the new tab nearly so well as the original. When Diet Coke was introduced, I just hated the sweetness. I remember arguing with a Coca-Cola salesman in a grocery store (coincidentally in Knoxville, where I lived at the time!). He told me, "No one likes tab." My reply, of course, was that I wasn't no one.

That is hilarious...mixed with Bourbon. As a Tennessee transplant, I would know you were a Southerner just by that line! It was a Junior League staple when I moved here 16 years ago (with the Bourbon of course!)

The jingle I remember most is this one:

"Tab! Tab Cola - Whatta a beautiful drink!
Tab! (Tab Cola) - For beautiful people!
Tab!"
