as a musician, I find I listen to music in the foreground, so to speak, sometimes while the food gets cold or (and I've had this experience too) deciding to get take away because the food was great but the music was very much not...

I bought a Mariachi CD for a tex-mex dinner we threw one night. Needless to say, no one could sing along, but we sure had a lot of tequila! The music was the talk of the night. Everyone wanted a copy of the party music!

I don't think it is cheesy to match the style of music to the ethnicity of the food that you are eating. If you match the restuarant/home decor, music, and food...you can almost imagine that you are on a mini-vacation. :) You could even dress ethnically to match the food...LOL
Food cooked on the outside grill tastes better when we are outside in our jeans, t-shirts, and sandals, and we can hear the birds and fountains running...maybe a little Bob Marley playing in the background...or maybe some Jimmy Buffet.
This makes me hungry for a rib-eye!
