What a neat idea! I’ll definitely have to try this for theme entertaining or birthdays. It’s also interesting to compare the recipe styles from that era with today’s. Thanks for sharing!

I was born in 1968, and my recollection of the 1970′s Midwest diet as much more bland than today. Almost all of our meals were home cooked. We ate a lot of beef and chicken with potatoes, green beans, and corn bread. We had lots of fried foods cooked in lard. We used generous portions of butter, sugar, and salt. An adventurous meal was pizza with standard toppings. Mexican and Chinese foods was consider exotic. Thai food was unheard of.

Almost all of our fathers smoked. Second had smoke was considered the norm. Surprisingly we were leaner, and more active than Americans today.

Cool idea. I, too, was born in June 1978. My mom definitely wasn’t cooking veal or eel. We were
a meat and potatoes family.
