Not the most romantic of moments, but I got my first proposal over a pre-dawn breakfast in a Marine Crops chow hall at Officer Candidate School (Marines don’t say mess hall. Don’t ask me why).

Another member of my company, a young man whose name I only knew because it was stenciled over his breast pocket, looked up from inhaling his SOS and Texas Pete Hot Sauce and asked “You wanna get married?”

“What?”

“Do you know what we would be making when we’re both colonels?”

I literally laughed out loud at your dead on description of the IB program. I put myself through that too... hated it at the time but looking back I'm glad I did it. I've got tons of lunch room memories coming back- can't wait to organize them into a blog post. :)
