I make ketchup...it's essentially a home made recipe but due to sales volumes I have someone make it for me.
Look at drippinsauce.com if you are interested...

"Whatever happened to homemade ketchup" would have been a more reasonable question a few years ago. Now it's everywhere! Every hip restaurant is making their own condiments, and everywhere I turn there's a blogger touting their recipe!

I starting making tomato soup several years ago. Having grown up with Campbell's, I was surprised by how fresh and delicious it was, and easy to make with a food processor.

Not all Ketchup's are equal! Homemade ketchup also gives you the ability to CHOOSE what goes in it!

I'm gluten intollerant as well as diabetic so diet is very important to me. For the sake of a little bit of effort, you can often achieve tastier results than anythin mass produced as well as avoid all the extra ingredients such as E numbers and preservatives!

In one of Jeffrey Steingarten's books he has a chapter about ketchups where he rates them as "better than Heinz", "worse than Heinz", and "Heinz".

I've made homemade tomato ketchup before - and while it's quite easy and quite good (and HFCS-free), sadly, I must admit that it wasn't "Heinz".

After spending my entire life on Heinz, and hating on Hunt's, Del Monte, and both supermarket and gourmet brands, I think that's just the base flavor I expect, and want, from ketchup.

I make homemade ketchup from a recipie that I found online. Making ketchup is really quite easy and doesn't take any specialized equipment (other than a Dutch oven or a big, non-reactive saucepan).

It's also fun to experiment with different spice combinations, or to add siracha sauce, tabasco, or sweet chili sauce.
