She was really quite a character. Let's not forget that the Italias taught the French how to cook !The two cuisines can be very similar.Italy and France and Italy are neighbors, and both are Mediterranean countries. The culture, food, language, wine and people are intertwined significantly.Today, Italian cuisine has replaced French cuisine as the most respected and sought after culinary experience. Thank GOD for that !

Mohan
First of all, let me say that in Italy nobody knows Julia Child. She s famous in the US, maybe in France but ignored in most of the EU. About the Italian chefs and their ''murderous stare'', they considered her just as an ill-bred tourist. She couldn't enter the kitchen, play with the food or taste the sauce with her fingers. It was a rude beahvior. If you did something like that in Japan, Great Britain or Spain, they would throw you out the restaurant.

Julia used to express disdain for Italian food. "The food didn't strike me as anything special, either; it didn't have much finesse," she wrote as late as 2006 about a trip in the 40s. That would bring a reproachful, murderous stare from any Italian chef!
