Hey goobers - WRONG. Ray Kroc was indeed the founder of the chain McDonald's. The McDonald brothers never had a notion of what might happen.

It's like saying that Philo Farnsworth was the founder of network television, as opposed to the guy who INVENTED television.

Therefore, Jerry Case and Salim - keep finding fault, but perhaps learn a SINGLE THING before you speak up.

The Fish McBites are also available here in New Orleans. I would imagine they're available in other major markets as well.

I agree, the fish MCBites are just nasty. Filet-o-Fish sandwich is not bad, but the bites...meh,

Good story, but you still have it wrong: it's ALASKAN POLLOCK. Not Atlantic pollock.

What a difference 50 years makes. I'm sitting in a modern-decor McCafé connected to free (recent concession) wifi (not-so-recent innovation) eating the sandwich I crave (not only during Lent). I googled and found this article. Delighted (as always) with the history provided by the Smithsonian, fascinated to reed about the evolving fish recipe, but was hoping to learn whether the size of the sandwich has changed over time.

Ray Kroc was NOT the founder of McDonalds. Rather, it was the McDonald brothers in Southern California. Kroc may have been the originator of franchising at McDonalds but he was not the founder of the future chain.

the article seems to contradict itself. it talks about the mcdonald brothers as originators, then it said its "founder Ray Kroc" was given credit.
it would be worth your while to check the mcdonalds museum, which is in the original store, located in the city of san bernardino, california.
if this doesn't sound familiar, it's because ray kroc rhymes with crook. He vowed, when getting the helm of mcdonald, that he would erase the memory of the brothers from the public, thus the unknown aspect of mcdonald's real origins.

While slightly before my time, wasn't Captain Crook supposed to represent the filet-o-fish (like Hamburglar represents the standard hamburgers)?

I've also wondered recently what the official plural of Filet-O-Fish is. Is it Filet-O-Fishes or is it Filets-O-Fish?
