He'd stolen his Colt service revolver from the Navy, and had many other souvenirs... still the only vet from the Great War that I've ever met, I don't think there's any around now... It created great consternation when he told them he was really 36, not 38. He had dropped out of high school and lied to the recruiters, telling them he was 18, to join the Navy.
