#1 has a couple problems getting adopted:

First, the 'kills birds' thing is all down to one thirty year old wind farm in California that has long been the example of what not to do[1], (and which is being replaced). One large office building kills more birds[2] than a good sized wind farm.

Second, modern wind turbines are already very quiet. At only a few hundred meters a loud turbine will still be quieter than your fridge. (One pro-reality ad plays with this, using the punchline "Seriously, those crickets are driving me crazy.")

[1] It uses small diameter/high RPM blades, (it's RPM that kills birds, not tip speed), turbines mounted on latticework towers, (attractive for nest building), and is sited right next to a bird sanctuary, (so there are a lot of birds).

[2] There is a problem with killing bats: Low pressure vortexes shed by the blade tips can cause their lungs to explode. Wind farms already use bat-repellent noisemakers and there is ongoing research into eliminating or at least reducing vortex generation, (they are a source of drag).

I am totally fascinated by the latest technology of wind turbine Raymond Green has invented. Would not his “Catching Wind Power” prove greatly worth while to adapt to jet engines??? With all the dangers that birds pose for airplanes, something along that line might eliminate or greatly reduce such dangers.

Please share any information or thoughts regarding this.

Thank you in advance.
