Even though conservatives, including evangelicals, tend to belong to the Republican party, it's uncomfortable to equate political opinions with moral bent. Morality, in it's truest sense, leans on the Golden Rule and ancient laws/commandments designed to prevent theft, abuse, etc. No political party would survive standing against real morality. Ethics, on the other hand, may be negotiable and arguing points genuinely political. If you asked the same group of folks who took the surveys mentioned in this article whether they would find theft to be objectionable vs acceptable I don't think you'd find a large number of people changing their views based on the wording of the question. Let's keep the issues in perspective.
