Randy Rieland is a writer and digital media consultant who has led the Discovery Channel’s digital media team, edited the city magazine in Pittsburgh (his hometown) and written a book about baseball in the 1970s.  Alas, he has never invented anything.  But he has great admiration for anyone who has, and for those who not only think outside the box, but don’t even know the box exists. Innovations is about people and ideas that likely will shape the way we will live one day.  Don’t hesitate to send in suggestions of subjects we should cover. And don’t worry about the box.

The Department of Innovation? I love it. The logo looks suspiciously like the Apple settings logo on my Mac, but in any event, carry on! It makes me think of what is possible.

Hi Randy, please keep an eye on the site we’re building and about to launch called Chiloh. We’re creating a new way for people to express their opinions in a manner that can truly lead to political and social change. Imagine 10 million people all talking about the same thing at the same time.
