The Fleischer studio (producers of Popeye and Betty Boop) offered a cartoon short in the 30's titled "Dancing on the Moon." An assortment of singing animal newlyweds board an excursion rocket, dance and neck on the moon, and fly home where waiting stocks deliver babies. Not precisely a scientific speculation, but it does feature 3D moonscapes and a model rocket instead of painted backgrounds in some scenes.

A recently translated Japanese SF novel, The Next Continent, is centered around a Japanese civilian effort to build a wedding chapel (!) on the moon.
