i also liked the 1911 ralph 124c41+. no robot, but period social sterotypes projected into a world of skype, flying cars, personal space travel, maglev trains undersea etc.

Also, the Skylark series of the 1930's---" Get your hands off the ftl drive, you big ape";"Activating force beams."; "Now,you are cooking with gas". This was echoed in the 1990's series Stargate.

robby the robot, in forbidden planet, predates these.
robby does housework, makes dresses, and has a human personality.
As a child of the period, the most amusing thing about the jetsons, and startrek, was the 1950-1970 social sterotypes projected into the far future. As a scifi reader,i knew this intended satire.

I was, and still am, most amused by the phrase "Most ut" that Rosey uses after she hears Judy say "utmost" about a boy. I believe George or Jane repeat it at the end also. Another amusing part of the episode is Rosey parodying Judy's moods in love and not in love. I still laugh at those two parts.

The "Maid Without Tears" also seems to be a maid with a couple major trip hazards hanging off her waistband... and scary that Miss Honeywell was advertised in at least one ad not merely as a robotic maid, but as a robotic *housewife*. Yikes!

We may never get a Rosie. Instead, we'll get dozens of smaller, simpler robots, each suited to a single task (dusting, dish washing, vacuuming, etc.). This will happen because it is much, much easier to perform a specific process than to perform a general one.
