Alcohol replaced by safer, more specific drugs with fewer side effects? Bring it on.
As for the Slaughter of the Buzzcopters, well, it seems that we'll have self-driving cars and yes, self-driving flying machines before we get wide-spread use of personal flying machines. So I'm not worried about that.
If somebody had told Wylie that in the 2000s nine-year-olds would be reading 300 page novels about a boy wizard, how long would he spend laughing before telling us that that just wasn't possible?

Wylie has a strange mix of accurate and way wrong. It was, however, 1950. He seems to have done as well as anybody else.

It may not be society's norm, but it sounds like he is describing vacation at south beach. Topless women, thongs, tattoos, and club kids high on extacy. Of course this is nothing new. Society has always had a mix of puritanism and debauchery.

Although many do, athletes really don't have to study if they don't want to,(ask Cam Newton).
I hunted pheasant, quail & duck all the time as a kid, now I have to drive so far out and still can't find property that's not private..It is just a memory.
With 3D TV and the Wii among other items his predictions on home entertainment were just a little premature. We're getting there.
Pills could replace alcohol and other drugs but I think we like the actual act of drinking too much for it to happen.
Reading isn't going away but it's definitely changing. I don't think anyone back then could have foreseen the internet and home computing and even if they did, certainly not the extent that it dominates our media and lives in general.
Be thankful we don't have flying cars, it's dangerous enough out there as it is!
