Following up on the comment about the "Peek-a-boo prober capsule", an instance of that technology was in the news just this week:

Conspicuously absent from your blog entry on this particular episode is that the "Peek-A-Boo Prober Capsule" shown by George's doctor now actually exists. Capsule endoscopy was invented in Israel and approved for use by the FDA in 2001:

Episode 14 is a good example of how to "reuse" plot ideas, in this case another go at the unusual suit, (flying or super), jacket. At the time none of this mattered to me as a kid back in 1962 but it illustrates the time pressure H-B must've been under just to create the original 24 episodes.

The pace really picks up once the testing begins. Another nice peek at ground level again and it sure is nice to see a crowd of people in this episode. What a nice touch to add in the "around the world" news announcers covering the suit tests. Sure seems very unique to me now but I'm sure H-B had similar sequences in a few "Flintstones" episodes. All the gags I didn't get as a kid back in 1962 seem like harmless fun to me now in 2013, like the over-romantic Frenchman and the Soviet Premier Nikita Khrushchev caricature with his "we made it first" fist pounding - very funny.

Brings back very cool memories to see George getting his employee physical from Dr. Radius, a "Vince Edwards as Dr. Ben Casey" clone if ever there was one. It's easy to forget what an impact "Ben Casey" made on early 60's television. Many Hanna-Barbera animated series used pop-cultural references that add a nice period touch to their work.

But the best part has to be Mr. Spacely berating George over his willingness to beg Mr. Cogswell for a job, finally ending with "hey, wait for me!". Too Classic!

A five thousand dollar bonus.
"You asked me for twenty dollars yesterday."

Obviously the monetary system is rebooted sometime in the next fifty years, which is why we're not hearing sums of several hundreds or thousands of dollars mentioned as a shopping budget, or millions thrown about as a bonus.

"George then takes “live each day as if it were your last” quite literally and begins making hasty decisions — giving his family money to spend frivolously and telling off his boss, Mr. Spacely."

Just like Homer Simpson!

"(Or six feet over? I don’t think “The Jetsons” ever addresses if people of the 21st century are buried or cremated or shot into space or something.)"

There's a mystery I suppose we'll never see solved! Cremation would seem ideal in a future world.

We also get another look at the ground in this episode too I believe, including pot shots at how the news was covered on the BBC and from some French channel in Gay Paree.
