The story is only to move the American Way Life to future. This future american dream is due to the optimism of the age. In this time enegy was ineshaustible and nothing can stop american people if they put all the tools.
But energy became scarce and people (american too) can't archieve all that we dream.
Today some people dream in a miracle of energy could save this dream (nuclera io) but I think that we must imagine in other kind of future society

Names in The Jetsons would be an interesing study.

Assuming George is in his late '40s/early '50s we could paraphrase President Obama and say that George Jetson got his last name from somebody who didn't notice how many long-obsolete career surnames still exist and how new ones just aren't being coined, and his first name from someone who had no clue just how unpopular "George" would be as a name for baby boys born in the 2010s (politics aside, it has entirely the wrong sound).

"The narrator explains that Astro was “Doomed to a life of dull, depressing wealth and luxury.” Thus, it’s the age-old lesson that money can’t buy happiness (although those with lots of money seem to be doing just fine)."

It's a weird double standard.

The name "Tralfaz" alone is very much a mystery, though it has also sprang up in several Warner Bros. cartoons as well.
