The only unusual breeding cue that comes to my mind (when pondering your question) is the hopeful song of the bachelor Northern Mockingbird.
Every spring and summer for the past several years I have occasionally heard the bachelor Mockingbird singing at night. He is close enough to my bedroom window to wake me in the middle of the night. I have read that he sings at night to attract a mate. Once he finds a female that will mate with him, the singing stops. I guess after he mates...he can sleep.
I'm not a scientist so I don't really know if this is his reason for singing at night. But, I would like to believe that it is true.
