What is meant when they say the path is “windier”? Are they talking about “winding around” or referring to “the wind”, i.e. acting as though blown here and there?

I have imagined that flying insects were using the night sky in a similar way to birds and probably bats, but this is a revelation. I hope more researchers are inspired to closely examine the navigational tools of other overlooked life forms. Thank you for posting this article. I now have a new respect for life that lives in, and on, the dirt.
