interesting...the web of life is fascinating.
i have an interest in Lories/Lorikeets. There are a number
of species indigenous to Indonesia. Is any work being done
regarding them? And, what about the deforestation taking
place on many of the islands? What's being done in regard to forest preservation?

I love owls and so glad that a new species has been discovered.

I have a cat named 'Pook'. I wonder if they could be related.

Interesting! I hope that everyone had a nice Valentine's Day,plus I hope that they are having a nice Ash Wednesday. I also hope that they have a nice Pesidents' Day. That goes for last year and all the other years that I've missed.

This is a classic example of preserving biodiversity on insular habitats, for new species are still being discovered. It has happened on the islands in the Philippines, and now Indonesia. More than likely, this owl goes after larger prey than the Lombok scops owls. Scops owls go after insects and small species of bats. They are very well developed for living on insular habitats.
