I am disturbed by this article. I was Roberts neighbor for 8 years. I shared my work on spruce budworm and aerial photography. I built a database containing 14 years of defoliation. I asked him how one could correlate the work I had done on spruce budworm, with fire patterns in the cascades of oregon. He never even informed me that he had not only taken this idea for his own, but that he has a program of study using garrett meigs as a phd canidate to do this exact same thing. I would appreciate it if the smithsonian makes some kind of effort to correct this. As Roberts neighbor and the originator of this idea, I am surprised to first learn all about this in your magazine. I am just a forest worker who lived thru this outbreak and was laughed at by several professors. any questions will be answered 541-231-0090
