Your composition seems uneven. If you refer to us as h.s., then you should refer to the neandertals as h. neandertalensis, should you? Is the current plague of stercus journalism creeping into the Smithsonian?

Thank you for sharing the piece, it was interesting. Whose brains were studied, male or femel brains? Male and femel behavior is different --- males are more aggressive and violent and they commit most crimes --- so our brains are different. Aggression, violence and other criminal behavior can't possibly be considered intelligent behavior, past or present. Males maintained "extended trade networks" through aggression, violence, and other forms of criminal behavior. Today, higher thinking in males has meant more elaborate forms of aggression, violence, and criminal behavior and male social interaction is wrought with this unstable and unhealthy behavior. When the article says, "you're smarter", to who is the article referring?

It's an interesting paper, but some of the conclusions bandied about in the press seem highly speculative.
I imagine some of it will be challenged by other studies.
