Andrew, the folklore relating to vampires was so common in Eastern and Central Europe (Greece, Romania, Russia, Poland, etc) that there are only some little adjustemnts to the story.Even during the 30s of the XX c. there were still some beliefs, and archeologists find all the time burials which indicate that the belief in vampires and all those anty-vampiric burial rituals were very common.Yes, there is a lot of truth about folklore in Dracula.

This spring I finally read Stoker's Dracula. While I enjoyed it, I assumed that most of the history and folklore that Dr. Van Helsing Brings up in the book was fabricated for the sake of the story. This would suggest that there was something to it, even dating back further than Stoker placed it.
