I'd love to know the whole story. Though it seemed to be a witch hunt to me. Again, I don't know what to think.

You're right, they can't take the victories away, but they can recommend that they be taken away (article fixed to reflect that).

Another interesting take on it, is that nearly everyone that Armstrong has beaten - all the dudes in second place - were also doping: http://www.slate.com/blogs/browbeat/2012/08/24/lance_armstrong_doping_scandal_everyone_was_chating_from_1999_to_2005_.html

I'm not sure how I feel about this. Lance was a hero to me but also I'm vehemently anti-doping. He's clearly guilty, but who will end up with his titles? Certainly not the runners-ups; everyone who shared the podium with Lance during his seven victories has either confessed to or been caught doping. I guess it'll have to be seven years with no champion.

Nitpick: "The U.S. Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) decided late last night to strip Armstrong of his seven Tour de France victories" I don't believe that the USADA has the authority to do that. I think that at most they can make a recommendation to the International Cycling Union, then the ball is in their court to decide.
