		<description>I always refrained from calling myself simply &quot;American&quot; to describe myself as being from the United States since it describes 2 continents.  Instead I would simply say &quot;from The States&quot; meaning the United States of America.  I never thought that it could be confused for another nation.

What a very interesting article (and I admit it sent me on an hour long journey of looking up the history of Mexico, pardon me, the United Mexican States).</description>
