Right now, the Okeanos Explorer—“America’s Ship for Ocean Exploration“—has a rover in the water about 2000 feet below the ocean’s surface. You can join it by watching this live stream.
We recommend keeping the audio on, to hear the pilot and oceanographers talk about what they’re seeing and make some really excellent oceanography jokes. Often when you’re wondering “what the heck is that thing?” they are too. It’s just a little reminder about how very little we know about what’s under the surface of our oceans.
