Yes, up to a point. I too have cut down my luggage to one bag. A smart phone would probably help, but I don't have one, though I take a Kindle rather than books. You have to be sure these electronics will work where you are going, however, and you do have to think about climate so you won't freeze or melt, and local customs so they don't throw you out of a church for bare arms or uncovered hair. Don't imagine that you can buy your medications all over the world, and take your prophylactics before, during and after. Also don't imagine that you can buy size 3X ( or any other "unusual' size) clothing of any kind anywhere. In other words, think carefully and be prudent.
What is the analogy with traveling into the New Year? Look before you leap. Think before you pitch. Pay your taxes and your bills before you launch yourself. For the sake of your family, who will otherwise have to fork out, make sure you are adequately covered by insurance, for travel problems, accident and illness, and funeral expenses. Then you can proceed with a light heart.

Sounds like very good advice to me! I've recently turned 31 and it just makes so much sense to declutter one's life - and not just on December 31. Focus and clarity is what I'm after. Nice little article!
